Community College Transfer Scholarships

We value our relationships with community college students. That's why we've created these unique scholarship opportunities just for you.

You may be awarded a scholarship based on your undergraduate application materials. A separate scholarship application is not needed.

These scholarships are available to newly admitted community college transfer students. Complete your admission application to be considered for these awards.


Great Lakes Award

Undergraduate students who are residents of a state or province bordering a Great Lake will enjoy an award that reduces the non-resident tuition rate. Great Lakes Award recipients will receive the benefit of the Michigan resident tuition rate plus 10% - a savings of thousands of dollars each semester. 

If you are a degree-seeking student from Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin or Ontario you will receive this award.


Presidential Transfer Scholarships

A select number of top community college transfer students accepted into the Irvin D. Reid Honors College will receive a Presidential Scholarship.

Award for incoming transfer students - Fall 2014

The Presidential Transfer Scholarship is $10,000 per year for two consecutive years, for a total of $20,000.

Award requirements

This award will be offered to the top admissions applicants, based on your GPA at the time of admission.

Full-time enrollment is 12 credit hours or more.


Green Transfer Scholarship

Wayne State University students can receive only one of the following merit scholarships - University, Presidential, Distinguished, Wade McCree, Gold, Green, Pathway, Academic Achievement, Anthony Wayne or Detroit Urban Scholars scholarships. Students who have completed a bachelor's degree are not eligible for these scholarships.
